Occasionally we receive requests for access to the Armed Forces Retirement Home (aka Soldiers’ Home)archives.   While we, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a non-profit organization, have an agreement with the Home to steward President Lincoln’s Cottage, we are not their repository for archival materials.

President Lincoln’s Cottage Wins MUSE Award

President Lincoln’s Cottage won a Silver MUSE Award yesterday evening for its “Lincoln’s Toughest Decisions” interactive.   The award, given annually at the American Association of Museums (AAM) conference, recognizes outstanding achievement in museum media.

Summer Hours Begin Today

Today begins ”summer” hours at President Lincoln’s Cottage.   The Visitor Education Center is now open an hour later every day of the week and there is an additional tour everyday at 4pm.
Summer hours are in effect from April Fool’s Day through Halloween–no foolin’.  For details, see below.
