Tip of the Week: Picnicking at President Lincoln’s Cottage

We are happy to announce that we have just installed new picnic tables and waste receptacles in the tree-lined area behind the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center.  Our visitors are welcome to use the facilities, though we ask you to dispose of your waste properly in the receptacles provided.  Snacks and beverages are available for purchase in the Visitor Education Center Museum Store & Cafe.

If you choose to enjoy your snack al fresco, please remember that recycling containers are available in the Museum Store & Cafe in the Visitor Education Center.

If you choose to bring your own food to picnic when you visit, please remember that food, gum, and beverages are prohibited in the Cottage, and we cannot store outside food for our visitors. Plan on either enjoying your food before your tour or keeping it stowed in your cooler or picking it up from a local restaurant after your tour.

Happy picnicking!
