Today marks the 201st birthday of our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln!
For the Lincoln birthday celebration and official conclusion to the Lincoln bicentennial, President Lincoln’s Cottage was set to devote the day to school group visits. Due to the record-breaking snow however, many of the area schools are still closed and all of our school groups have had to reschedule their visit later this month.
Thinking about visiting President Lincoln’s Cottage today? We are open to the public today, for the first time in a week. We are thrilled to be able to make it in on Lincoln’s birthday and to welcome any visitors who are eager to visit the site today. Several tour groups and individuals have called to make last minute plans to visit, and now that our school groups have all been rescheduled, we have more openings available. The roads are cleared, public transit is operational again (check www.wmata.com for route delays), and the parking lot has been partially cleared. If you have questions or concerns about making it to the Cottage today, don’t hesitate to contact staff at 202-892-0436.
